VivoBook X543UA Windows 10 Bios firmware updated automatically

During a restart a couple of days ago, I saw that my bios was being updated without any action / knowledge on my part. Since I frequently access the bios, I checked, and sure enough the version is now 305, the odd thing is, that on the support page, for this machine, the latest version is 304, of course it has an earlier date than the one installed by Windows.
Upon further review, in, settings -> update and security -> view update history, i found the following entry with install date of 10/20/2019:

Asustek Computer Inc. Firmware -6/21/2019 12:00 AM - 10.1.2.305

So Windows is now in the business of automatically installing bios updates? I am not sure that I like this. Has anyone experienced something similar, and is there anyway to stop this?

While I wouldn't consider a BIOS a driver if Windows did the update you could defeat driver updates using this tutorial, option 2.

I'm not sure Windows has the smarts to do a BIOS update so that is why I asked about the "Live Update"

The above screenshot is a log of what has been updated with ASUS Live update and it doesn't match the date of the entry I saw in Windows Updates History which was this, "Asustek Computer Inc. Firmware -6/21/2019 12:00 AM - 10.1.2.305", so I would likely say it was Windows that did it, in any case, I will try to deactivate driver updates based on your tutorial. thanks!

UPDATE: I enabled that feature, so driver updates are now disabled, and I will de doing them through the manufacturer.

Yes, it has happened on my Dell laptop. The BIOS update itself is coming from the manufacturer of the computer, not Microsoft. Microsoft is merely supplying the vehicle for the computer manufacturer to push their update.

So in that case, what will be with Bitlocker encrypted devices? Does windows will install bios update, without suspending bitlocker?

BIOS update won't affect Bitlocker.

It will. Microsoft even warns, that Bitlocker should be suspended before bios update. Of course, nothing will break, but If not suspended, then after bios update, recovery key will be asked.

I unecrypted the drive, and I was able to successfully clone it, and install the new one. The computer is much, much faster.! Thanks for all of the help.
