Is Windows 1909 considered to be buggy?

As ever, take due precautions- make sure you have a current Windows disk image in preparation (e.g. Macrium Refect - free/paid). tenforums members tirelessly recommends the routine use of disk imaging.

1909 (19H2, 18363.388) has been running in Release Preview for some time now. There haven't been any show stoppers reported, just the normal user specific anomalies and quirks. This being a Feature Update via Cumulative Update rather than a full new build greatly reduces the risk factor of installation failure. The mechanism is totally different. Taking the normal safeguards of a good system image backup, there is no good known reason to go the defer route. If your system is running reasonably smoothly (only you would know how to answer that), then there is no reason to believe it would not after the CU.

A lot of times, this comes down to the particular user's comfort level, what he/she has heard, past experience, and reported documented issues that would lead them to delay. Do what you feel is best for you.

OK, thanks. With 1903 looks like I can delay the install for max 21days. Is there a way to delay it longer? I'm on Win Home.

There are various 3rd party utilities to disable Windows Update. There's also a tutorial on how to do that... in, yes, the Tutorials section.

Note that as it's a CU this time, you should be able to uninstall it if you are unhappy with it.

Hello F14, thanks for the info. That bit of detail makes me more comfortable upgrading to 1909. Now I understand how its quite different from 1903 which had a lot of problems. I'll still wait about 20 days just to be a little careful.

So looks like you have the type @ and then the full user name and it doesn't indicate that the user name is valid or invalid before posting. Hmmm... Not very elegant compared to other forum software. But no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

To avoid misspelling of some user IDs that may be a little awkward to type, I do a copy/paste from the Quote function, and paste after the @

No, there is no drop-down or suggestion list like a Google search, but TF makes up for it by being the best.
