Update to 1903?

My system was automatically updated to v.1903 at the end of August. The update trashed several apps. Like FirFox & Windows Live Mail. It also trashed the desktop. I rolled back to v.1809, but WU shows both FUs (1903 & 1809) as being installed, while WU keeps delivering updates for v.1809. I used MCT to create a v.1903 USB in case a future feature update goes awry. I am also doing regular system image saves after every WU update. I am just waiting to see what happens when the next FU comes around.

Thanks for posting those details jamis.

If your PC has that much grief with 1903 and WU surprised you with an unexpected update, you may want to make an ISO for 1809 and keep it handy. An OS roll-back is never a guaranteed activity. I prefer this tool for ISO downloads.

I would also consider something like Sledgehammer if you're unable to successfully delay updates.

Try Windows key + R, type winver and hit enter to see Version info.

Oh, it’s on v.1809. Winver and the about system panel show it. For some reason the v.1903 FU still shows on the WU panel after the roll back. V.1809 runs just fine and I plan on leaving it there until EOL or until MS gets a FU that works on this system. My troubleshooting of the automatic v.1903 failed update showed it was a corrupted file in the original download and the automatic retry failed even though the update process called it successful. I’m waiting to see if the FU to v.1909 works via WU before I take any further action.

Good news it's working for you, thanks for that report Mathew. I hope to avoid using it but downloaded the instal file just in case.

I have never installed it. I have just extracted some commands from it.
