    Automatic (recommended)
    .

    not there, mrt has been updating by itself since I got windows 10, now does not, when I click on mrt it new update available, go to download center, I go there and download, nothing installs

    Do you mean the Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT)? If so, that is normally updated each Patch Tuesday and should be automatically downloaded and run by Windows Update. It is listed in Update History under Other Updates. Note that, unusually, Microsoft did not issue a new MSRT this September.

    i was getting popup when typed mrt, it said update available go to download center, went there nothing would install, was thinking it was virus or something but does not seem so, i will wait

    I see what you mean. This popup...

    ...takes me to a download page for the 32-bit version, which of course will not run on a 64-bit system.

    There is however a link to the KB890830 article on that download page under Details. That has links for both x86 and x64. It also confirms that there was no new update this September.
