    Windows update error (0x80080005)

Hello, I am currently on 1809 version, build: 17763.557

When I first tried to update windows, i got an error of: 0x80080005.

I've done the sfc/scannow (found nothing), did the troubleshooting (gave me Service registration is missing or corrupt error), and did all those things for stopping wusaurv and etc. Nothing worked.

What;s even unsual is that the name in services, isn;t Windows Updates, it's just wusaurv.

I cannot update my windows to the newest build, what can I do now? Windows update error (0x80080005)-aaaa.jpg

Hi, this is the correct status of that service:

Please post a screenshot the result of running the Windows Update Troubleshooter so we can be sure of which troubleshooter you've run.

Please try running Tweaking.com's free repair tool:
    Tweaking.com - Windows Repair Free/Pro
    - repairs 3,16

Please restart, check the status of that service and if ok, try Windows Update.

Hi! I know it's the correct, but it doesnt say Windows Update with all the other titled Windows (it';s not titled Windows Update, it's just named wusaurv). Just says wusaurv. Not sure if i'm suppose to be worried.

    Here is the troubleshooter.

It says no errors on disk.

I mean, is it not normal for it to be named wusaurv, I know that's the service name...but usually "Windows Update,: the title should be with all the other windows. Like how yours is titled by the name. Mine is just "wusaurv" not even titled Windows Update.

Sorry? Have you got the correct Tweaking .com's repair tool? Or followed the steps to the end where you actually do the numbered repairs?

    - If you had followed all the steps I'd have expected it to take a bit longer.

It guides you through stages of preparation, then you perform the repairs in Safe Mode.

    Windows update error (0x80080005)-1.png
    step 1

    then
    Windows update error (0x80080005)-snap-2019-09-29-08.42.50.png

Of course, you can just go to Safe Mode, launch the program, and directly run the repairs, missing the preparation... not the best of ideas. It's designed to give you ways of going back if something goes wrong by creating a restore point, registry backup... then doing the repairs.

Oh, I did everything except for safe mode. Okay I will do it tomorrow when I'm awake and I'll post the results! Thanks for now!

I've decided, I'm going to do a clean reinstall, rather than trying to fix the problem. Thank you though! I've disabled my Windows Update a couple months ebcause it kept giving me errors, I guess a clean reinstall is the only way.

There are likely other options besides clean install but if files are backed up and can be restored it is often the best option.

    Clean Install Windows 10
