Windows 10 (1903) required update cause screen to go blank

Recently, I installed that Windows 10 update that said something about it being required and that the old version is not supported anymore or something like that. It turns the desktop light blue (vs. dark blue).

Shortly after login, the screen goes blank. I found no way of recovering from it apart from pressing the power button to shut down the machine. Then it rinses and repeats.

It also wakes up blank after going to sleep.

    Any ideas?

In case it matters, the machine is this:

Click these four keyboard keys at the same time and report into the thread what you see and hear:
    win + ctrl + shift + b

See if you can find/borrow an external monitor for testing purposes?

There are log collectors used in another forum room.
Run V2 and upload the results into this thread:

List any non-Microsoft antivirus software that was in use before the upgrade.
If ESET is installed then remove it using the applicable uninstall tool:
Uninstall ESET manually using the ESET uninstaller tool—ESET Knowledgebase
Uninstall ESET manually using the ESET uninstaller tool—ESET Knowledgebase

After completing the above steps place the computer in clean boot and report into the thread any changes:

I tried it on a monitor as well as a different TV than the one it was originally connected to (an older Westinghouse one). It worked in both cases.

Since I didn't have much on the computer anyway other than some Movie apps, I decided to reinstall Windows 10 and it's now 1803. I don't recall whether I did anything driver related or some other settings.

So far it hasn't prompted the 1903 offer yet. Maybe I'll wait till it does and try accepting 1903 again after this fresh reinstall to "recreate the scenario" as close as possible and see if it happens again.

This is what I found out prior to reinstall.

    --------------------------

    Build 1903

    --------------------------

    win + ctrl + shift + b

    *Beep*
And it look like it reset the HDMI connection or something because an "HDMI 1080p 60Hz" popup appears briefly.

    --------------------------

    Graphics:

Intel HD Driver 9.17.10.4459 (it says that's the latest driver upon "update attempt")

What sources were used for drivers?
Is the BIOS up to date?

If there are no important files these are some options:
    a) Place the computer in clean boot >upgrade to 1809
    b) If 1809 is ok > upgrade to 1903
    c) if there are any problems you can return to 1803 or troubleshoot

I meant, I don't recall what I did regarding drivers with the old 1803 before I upgraded to 1903. It was a long time ago and I may or may not have done something. The current 1803 is only using drivers provided by Windows 10 so when it prompts me for upgrading to 1903, presumably I haven't touched it so we'll see if I get the same problem.

The BIOS appears to not be up to date. Prior to reinstalling Windows, I did actually try to flash it with the latest one, but it said it was incompatible.

Using clean install drivers is a "vanilla install" and is a method for testing hardware.
If there are no unexpected shutdowns /restarts you can
    a) manually install tested drivers followed by Windows updates
    b) clean install a more recent Windows version
    c) continue to use the computer with only windows installed drivers
    d) an additional option is to install computer and component manufacturer drivers, install applications, files, etc. and make a backup image

If you need help with GPU hardware or drivers you can open a new thread in the applicable forum room.

What is the trigger that makes it prompt you the 1903 update offer?

I left the computer completely on for over a day and haven't gotten the "automatic download / optional upgrade" or whatever for the ending support update message that I got before. Is there a specific day of the week that this will trigger? Like weekend perhaps?

    Thanks.

    It's unknown.
End users can upgrade with the upgrade assistant or iso.
If you anticipate problems the best method is with an iso.

I did a manual Windows Update to 1903. I got the same problem.
Interestingly, halfway through the update process, the screen already goes blank. I had to connect a different monitor to see the update % progress. So it seems the driver doesn't work with my Westinghouse TV shorlty after that part has installed or something I guess.

    In Device Manager, it says:
    Intel Corporation
    5/19/2016
    9.17.10.4459

    In Graphics Properties, it says:
    Digital Television LD-4080

That's the model of my TV.

    1) Run setupdiag > post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...rade/setupdiag

    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    5) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    6) sfc /scannow
    7) chkdsk /scan
    8) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    9) wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType = 7
    10) bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

    11) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    12) Update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)
