KB4515384 can't solve the problems in Windows 10

After the installation of this new upgrade, I've observed this performance:
    1. The performance of Windows Defender rises to an amazing comsumption of RAM: 410 Mb.
    2. The simple account (my) rises to: 323 Mb.
    The two consumptions are unnaceptable.
If you don't have any solution, I'll go to unnistall the last two upgrades.KB4515384 can't solve the problems in Windows 10-consumo-wdefender.png

    Hi there

    @Enrique

don't worry about RAM consumption -- especially if the service is using 0% CPU --Windows manages RAM dynamically and when WD runs it might well use more so that its scanning can be done in memory rather than using Disk I/O.

A lot of people tend to mis-interpret these sorts of stats and make all sorts of wrong decisions and wrong tweaks to their systems based on figures read from stats like you've shown. If there's a bottleneck on your system it's most likely (as in most consumer grade machines) to be in the use of slow disks.

Judging by the CPU use your machine is currently "idling" so I doubt if it's performing badly -- and in a decent OS this is the best time to run things like background WD services while nothing else on the machine is happening.

As for the Malwarebytes thing - the amount of RAM an application is using is in no way a measure of how good / bad the application is -- would people call PHOTOSHOP for example a bad application when it uses quite a lot of RAM.

Some programs also when doing Disk I/O "Buffer the data into a large block" which can dramatically speed up the I/O -- for example if you have a basic block size of 1M and a Buffer of 20 M - then reading a chunk of 20M into storage and then processing I/O from the buffer is far quicker than 20 reads of 1 M - and the I/O can be overlapped with processing. OS internals are probably far beyond the scope of the post the OP was worrying about but one should get the idea --read performance stats with CARE.

You only need to bother if your computer is performing badly while you are using it -- If it performs slowly you'll certainly notice it.

    Cheers

Windows Defender comes to a normal performance.

I've unninstalled two of the last updates:
And you can view the results:
KB4515384 can't solve the problems in Windows 10-consumo-wdefender_2.png
The consumption of RAM is very different.
The last update not solve the troubles.

    Hi there
what's the problem --just more RAM usage or is computer running slowly ? "per favor" !!!!

If slow / poor performance we can help but just showing "More RAM usge" says totally ZERO.

Newer versions of software often are bigger than previous versions due to features / diffrent ways of using resources etc so what is the actual problem --if computer performing badly that's solvable - but if you are just worried about using RAM why not go back to THIS version of Windows !!!!!! (which actually could run from a floppy disk as well --remember those) -- Machines back then had a TINY amount of RAM.

    Thanks you, Jimbo!:
I just begins in this world of computer in a Mac (1986). I must know something about. My PC goes very well, just until these updates begins to works. My time of boot is only 7 seconds. And if you can view my thread, I say "the only program open". Also, my mouse dancing, do yuo know?. That's correct. Dancing. My downloads with evidents flags. An nothing of these symptom stay there. I think I have some reason, when I say that these updates are related with the malfunction of the system. Why NOW works fine?
Cheers you too!!! A little correction: Se dice ¡por favor! Pero, ya sé que me disculparás, porque I write so bad in english language.
And yes, I know all the versions of Windows, like you must know. I work much time in Windows 3.1, and after, in Windows 95, 98, 2000, Millenium, XP, 7, 8, 8.1 and the various versions of the Windows 10. And I'm a Insider, modest, but Insider at all. Everyones make only a little to help the others, you know.
Thanks you, anyway for your support and loving care.

Update KB4515384 causes high memory usage (shown on mine under Cortana), Edge no longer launches, and Search Bar not functional. Understand Microsoft has fixed the high memory usage, but the other two issues remain. Remove the Update and all reverts back to normal.

I've just installed KB4515384 update thru MUC (manually downloaded & installed it from ms update catalog) instead of thru WU (windows update) on a friend's computer using Win10 v1903 pro, rebooted and did not encounter the problems Friendlycomputr mentioned - Start menu is working correctly, even all the Search functions (including the Search bar) are working fine with KB4515384 installed.

3rd party start menu and/or privacy "anti-spyware" apps to blame for the KB4515384 problems (perhaps using old or outdated Intel/AMD/nVidia graphics drivers)?

In my case, the graphics card is GIGABYTE GEFORCE GT 1030 (I'm not a gamer).
