    Error 0x80242016

    Greetings.

I performed a clean installation of Windows 10, the current version. But I have the problem that the kb4515384 update cannot be installed with error 0x80242016. Do you know what caused this error?

FWIW: I found this: The error code 0x80242016 means 'WU_E_UH_POSTREBOOTUNEXPECTEDSTATE  The state of the update after its post-reboot operation has completed is unexpected '.
Unfortunately, it doesn't give us a clue of what actually happened.

But that was in the context of a build upgrade, not an update.

That error code is not reported in the thread for that update in the tenforums News section, where you will find a thread per update per build.

However you can try downloading it and updating manually using the link at the bottom of the article about it here:
    Cumulative Update KB4515384 Windows 10 v1903 build 18362.356 Sept. 10

See this for things to try:
Windows 10 1903 Cumulative update KB4515384 failed to install (May 2019 update)

    - some others have experienced this.

I also find nothing about this error with this particular update. I do not understand because whenever I try to use windows 10 something goes wrong.

Hi, you've not stated your PC specs. (See mine for comparison).

If your PC is older, that may be one reason. If you have some unusual hardware configuration, that can be another. Sometimes security software or the occasional conflicting 3rd party program or partitions problems may cause a problem.

A disk check (e.g. HD Tune), + using chkdsk is worthwhile.

Log files are created when upgrading and updating, but are hard to interpret and may prove non-indicative, unfortunately.
