HELP - Stuck at logon screen after last Win10 update

I cannot even use any of the Troubleshooting options...all of them do nothing, just black screen, until I switch off the pc again.

I cannot even enter bios with the usual key (Del), but the keyboard lookslike is working (capitals key light is working at least).

    Questions:

    1. How to force acces to bios if the usual key is not working?

    2. If I install Windows10 again (or Reset), I will be able to use Macrium Reflect backed up images, even if the reset removes my installed apps (=I will have to reinstall Macrium)

    Thanks in advance

If you need to restore an image, you could create Macrium bootable drive on another PC and boot from that.. That's assuming your image was of Windows (all necessary partitions) and not just 'C: '.

(However, even if you only imaged your Windows partition, there's still a way to make use of that).

    Thank you for confirming that.

Unless the CMOS battery needs replacing, sounds like a hardware problem.

What exactly happens when you power up? Do you see anything on the screen? Hear anything?

Is yours a desktop? Laptop? No specs...

If you could; record the system booting up on a phone (try to record it in HD) and upload it in a post or something? Although it does sound like an installation/update corruption it may very well not be. Still, if you have access to another system (friend/family) you can download a copy of Windows 10 from Microsoft, burn it to a DVD and get into the Windows installation like that. Usually when a Windows installation DVD is detected it'll ask if you want to boot from it before it begins the boot up for Windows.

    Desktop.

Everything was ok until the windows 10 update.

When I power on its just a black screen until windows logon.

Before the update was the same, but I could enter bios with usual key (del)...

Now no key is working to enter bios (I've tried also F2,F8,F10...

Could you give us some specs? Motherboard, CPU, Video card, etc? Burning an installation disc also has troubleshooting within it for recovery. You may be able to perform a "Boot repair".

Thank you for confirming it still boots to a logon screen. I thought you meant it wasn't getting that far.

What sort of keyboard are you using? How is it connected? Specs please- see mine for comparison. Tutorial available if needed.

    Example:

Can't Access BIOS Setup with F2 Key for Intel(R) NUC

Try disabling fast startup, then try accessing BIOS again.

    Cherry usb keyboard.
    - perhaps the usb port/driver aren't ready in time for the key press..?

MBO seems to be from around 2014.. not so old..
