    windows update wont update ?

    Hello guys .
My windows update will not work . After looking over the internet I am at a loss as to why it wont update . Its been like this for a fair few days now . When I check for updates it searches for an extended period of time until I get a message back saying
    Error Encountered
:There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80080005)

I tried using the Windows Update Troubleshooter but that did not work
I have advanced system care pro I tried using the win fix built in application to that . It did show windows update had a problem . When I clicked fix I restart my pc and tried windows update again but still doesn't work. I am just at a loss as to what to do next . Does anyone know thank you ?

    Regards Adam

I tried using the Windows Update Troubleshooter but that did not work
    Hi, do you mean
    - it would not run?
    - it failed to repair it?

    What was the result?
(Screenshot: to post one, please use the Insert Image icon above your post. Thanks.)

Do you have a System Restore point you could use?
Do you use disk imaging routinely as we recommend to users time and again? That allows users to restore their PC's /disks/Windows to a previous good state without tech help.

    Otherwise let's start with basics:
    a. Please check your disk:
HD Tune (free) Health and Error Scan tabs
    b. If ok, from an admin command or Powershell prompt run
    chkdsk c: /scan

    If ok, similarly run
    SFC /SCANNOW

If ok, please again run the WU troubleshooter and post the result.

If that does not succeed, try
    Tweaking.com's free cautious repair tool.
    Download Tweaking.com - Windows Repair 4.5.4
    Only repairs 3,4,16,25

    Thanks.

It's great when technology works, isn't it?

Now consolidate your position and create a new disk image so you've that to fall back on, and make that a routine.. e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + external storage for image files.
