    Glad to hear that.

...It is updating to (downloading)1903 right now but is stuck for 5 minutes on the 99% mark. Hopefully won't have a problem...

Sounds like you are using Windows Update to update to 1903. Yes, the step from 'downloading 99%' to 'Downloading 100%' takes a very long time. Don't worry, it should be fine. For what to expect next, see this post where I timed the various stages. I'm afraid you are in for a long wait, but be patient - it should (eventually) successfully complete the update. Yours should be a bit faster than mine as you have an SSD.

How long does the 1903 upgrade take using Windows Update?

Yep windows update. Didn't want to try a clean install yet. I still need to install the ram which is now sitting in my mailbox. Windows is 94% installed. Fingers crossed on reboot.

How to clean install Windows 10/11 without S mode enabled as default

This applies to both Windows 10 and 11, if you bought a computer with either Windows 10 or 11 with S mode enabled:

    1. Go to Settings > Activation and switch out of S mode while you're still activated. If you reinstalled Windows 10/11 before switching out of S mode, you just need to download and reinstall again the version of Windows that the computer came with, then Windows will automatically be activated and you can switch out of S mode.

    2. After switching out of S mode and Windows is still activated, continue the installation with the Windows version of your choice. When you're at the step to choose where to install, choose Drive 0 Partition 3 or the partition where the previous Windows was installed.

    3. Windows will keep both versions so after the installation is finished, use Disk Cleanup > Clean up system files to remove the unwanted version of Windows and you're done.

    Welcome to Ten Forums.

Yes, that's worth emphasising. MS don't make it easy to install S Mode so it's best to switch first and get a digital licence before doing a clean install.
