The only update drivers first issue I know of is very specific to Intel Storage Drivers, and does not affect many at all. No,in general you do not need to update all drivers and/or BIOS first. If, on the small chance it affects you, you will get a roll-back to 1803, and an error message indicating this was the issue. Have a good backup first, then just do it it. No way of 100% predicting your individual outcome. But, should you have any problems, just about any that could occur somebody here has been thru it.

You're in the right place. Go for it.
Hi there. Well my laptop is xps 15 9550 windows 10 pro.

I did not backup via macrium as i never learned how to do this yet. Thus the backup image thing, i never done it.

I do however backed up my important documents and files in an external hard drive. But if something goes wrong, worst case it rolls back to the 1803 right? If so, i will do update soon. Because eventually i have to update it right? Thus it says you have till November so if you don't do it by then, it has to automatically update for you correct?

Best to do it on your terms, on your schedule, not have it semi-forced on you. You're doing the right thing. Learn Macrium, it's not really that hard. Or AOMei or any other decent image backup. Learn one of them, at least. It'll save you some day.

Hi there. Well i have clicked on remind me later over 2 weeks already. Are you telling me that when i get this message everyday i turn on my laptop, as long as i click remind me later, it will never automatically update for me unless its around November where the support ends?

I want to learn macrium or aomei but it just overwhelms me.

Far as I know, that is correct. But you're only forestalling the inevitable.

Tell ya what. Keep delaying it, only if you promise to learn to do a decent backup. Then stop delaying it. OK?

There are at least 1000's here on TF who know Macrium backward and forward, and a large number know the others. All ya gotta do is ask.

Hi there. Well one big concern of mine is if i keep delaying it... is there a chance that it will automatically update it though soon? Or it will only happen in November if i delay it?

I want to do it now as this message worries me because i cannot have it automatically update if im busy on the computer while this happens...

Hi there. Im updating it now. It went thorough the first phase pretty quickly to 100%. Then it restarted and right now its

Don't turn off your pc. This will take a while.

Your pc will restart several times.

I just noticed right now that i have my 2 external monitors connected to it. But everyting is on my laptop screen. I have one of those 4 port usb hubs connected to a usb port in my dell xps 15 9550 laptop. One of the things connected to that port is the ethernet for wired internet... i use my computer internet wired as oppose to wifi on my laptop.

I do not need to remove either my monitors or the 4 port usb hub right? Also when windows is doing these updates, they are using the internet to do this? Or it does not require internet? I ask this because im connected via ethernet cable so if i were to unplug the 4 port usb, then my internet would be disconnected.

Now Appears on one my external monitors and nothing shows up on my laptop screen. That should be no problem right? Thus don't disconnect anything from my laptop at the moment during this entire process?

Don't unplug, disconnect, or power off anything while it's updating. Particularly the stage it is at right now. You have about 15 minutes or so, do not touch much of anything.
