@Superfly knows more about this than I do and can probably fill in the details. As I understand it the ****H8Q99 generic key for Home was used in error by Microsoft in some early releases of the install media, with the consequences seen in this thread.
Well, besides MS's fail regarding the VL default key in prior versions, the problem we have is that as Digital
Licences are renewed at regular intervals, should an installation with the VL key not renew successfully, it will try to reactivate with KMS (which obviously does not exist in a home environment and activation nags begin)...

My suggestion, therefore, is for all Home users to check that the installed key is not ****H8Q99 - if so change it to the correct one and save yourself the hassle as the the OP had.

Just let me say this, I did NOT use the product key ****H8Q99 when installing Windows 10 Home. The key I had and used was ****X2D97. So MS with it's magic changed it?

When you did your install, did you get a menu asking you which Edition of Windows 10 to install, Home, Pro, etc?

That's my other concern.. how does the key get changed? There is no plausable explanation for that.

PID.txt file in the sources folder maybe? With the wrong key in it?

Dunno, it seems a proper install (i.e Walmart key blah, blah) then for some reason the VL gets installed (via WU?) for some reason... not the first time we have this...

After getting the Product key fixed and Windows 10 Home activated again, NOW I can NOT get Macrium Reflect to make a good image. I have made the image in Macrium 3 times and all failed to verify.

    Product Code-macrium.jpg

I have no idea but I suspect it has something to do with having to get Windows activated again. I have considered uninstalling Macruim and then reinstalling it. I don't really believe that would help

    Any suggestions

One known cause for data verification to fail is faulty memory. Test yours first before looking at anything else.

...I was able to systematically test pairs of DRAM until I discovered DRAM3 was causing the issue.
Macrium seems to be happy now that I have removed from my mobo.
