If you had set a non-zero number of day to defer while in 1809, then upgrade to 1903 it will disappear immediately. If you set it after the upgrade it disappears at the next 'check for updates'. There's an automatic one every 24 (ish) hours, so it may last for up to a day before it disappears.

The deferral still seems to be functional, it's just that you can only see it in Regedit once you have set it.

Indeed! For a few minutes today, after having edited the Registry, seen the settings reappear, and then configured the two settings again, I thought that this @#$% thing had somehow been truly fixed by one of several other Windows updates that I downloaded today (I updated to 1903 just today), because the two settings remained in "Advanced options" after my having configured them again. But then, a few minutes later, "POOF", they were gone.

I find it very strange how some have it and some don`t, it doesn`t make sense.

Thanks for the screen shots Bree.

"The bug is only that these settings disappear in Settings when you set them to anything above 0 days. They still seem to be effective in deferring updates, even if you cannot see them."

So does that mean that even though you see the options, you can't change the delay days from 0 without the options disappearing? So just use group policy editor if you want to see the actual settings without going into the registry.

If helpful, here is the Reg file for the 2 registry entries to set to 0. Just un-zip (extract) it, and run it. Should restart afterward.Attachment 241996
Thank you for the reg files. I ran them and the options came back after running check for updates.

    Yes....

Where in the group policy editor are you looking? If it is 'Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Updates > Windows Update for Business' then the two 'Select...' options there remain 'not configured' and show '0 days' whatever you set for a defer period in Settings. AFAIK the only place you can see the actual defer period once it has disappeared is in the registry.

Windows Update for Business is a separate service that is only used by Enterprise environments. Those defer settings are independent of the consumer ones in Settings.

Specifically, Windows Update for Business allows for control over update offering and experience to allow for reliability and performance testing on a subset of systems before rolling out updates across the organization as well as a positive update experience for those within your organization.
