update policies - how do I un-set?

This computer is not part of a work domain or workgroup, I don't need to log in here, this is my home computer.

When windows 10 was new, I ran a bunch of stuff that claimed to help stop Windows 10 from snooping on me, and that's what I think did this. That was many years ago though.

So, now (not new behavior) I'm running Win Update, and it tells me that "some settings are managed by my organization" - but this is the first time it's told me why. It says Policies set on my device:

Notify to download updates
Source: Administrator
Type: Group Policy

Set Automatic Update options
Source: Administrator
Type: Group Policy

So, what I'm wondering is, how do I unset these policies, so they don't come back?

You have Pro, so use the Group Policy Editor.
E.g. Cortana, search for Group
Windows key + r, gpedit.msc

Here's Notify, for example.

A clue is it's enabled:

update policies - how do I un-set?-snap-2019-07-30-06.38.23.png

To find enabled policies, View, Filter Options then e.g.

update policies - how do I un-set?-snap-2019-07-30-06.39.35.png

'Some settings...' simply means as I think you know, some policy or registry equivalent is set to non-default.

Pro gives you more control of updates and upgrades, but MS has somewhat improved this in 1903 for all users.

so they don't come back?

Don't set them, or run 3rd party tools such as WUMT and use its options which set them, or so-called 'privacy tools'.

They won't 'come back' unless you, the user, or someone with appropriate access, does something.

Hmm, how do I find those particular policies? I found something promising at user configuration/administrative templates/Windows Components/Windows Update - there were only 3 entries there, and none of them had the name of what I was looking for, and they were all "not configured" - Where else could I find those two?
