MS won't update my system to 1903? Should i just force the update?

My system is a Lenovo T560. I have had this message for months now:

Not exactly informative. We are now half-way to the fall 2019 update, so why isn't this relatively new system ready to be updated? Should I just use MCT and force the upgrade to 1903?

What is the worst that can happen if I force the upgrade?

    1) Make a backup image using Macrium and save the image to another disk drive or to the cloud
Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything

    2) Uninstall any non-Microsoft antivirus, firewall, and drive encryption software

    3) Detach cables or remove all drives so that there is only the Windows drive attached during the upgrade

    4) Place the computer in clean boot:
Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts

    5) Perform an in place upgrade repair with a Windows 10 1903 iso:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

    6) If the upgrade works then reinstall any software that was uninstalled.

    7) If the upgrade fails then look for an error code and/or message and run setupdiag:

    Manual/Forced Windows 10 1903 Update

    Hi Mate
I had the same issue. Been waiting till 1903 was released to get an update. Got sick of it and decided to manually/forcibly update my computer to 1903.
Went to https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/soft...load/windows10 and downloaded the update file. Ran that and approx. 30 minutes later, I was on 1903.
Hope this works for you too.

    Welcome to TenForums.

More often than not that will work, but the message that "...your device isn't quite ready for it" usually means you have a driver or software installed that needs an update to be compatible with 1903. Often it's a 3rd-party AV, hence zbook's advice to uninstall it before you try.

    Hi there
quicker / easier way to get latest updates : -- go to the uupdump site, select the build, language and windows edition you want, run the script and run the setup.exe from the generated iso.

Notice though if doing a 1903 update f/ install or the first time remove any internal sd cards or usb external drives -- you can re-attach again after the install.

    Cheers

It looks like Lenovo themselves have tested the T560 for compatibility with 1903 as noted on their support page, but there are some limitations for some other models that have been tested for 1903 compatibility (usually driver or app limitations). Contact Lenovo and notify them about the 1903 update problem with your T560 laptop and see what they advise; perhaps mention about this in their forum as well.

Update. After 1909 came out, I created a bootable USB drive using the MCT, and used the USB drive to update this laptop and two other systems in my home LAN. No issues. I also did a clean install on a another laptop. No issues at all.
