    No major upgrades since 1803??

I came here to trying figuring out why my computer hadn't upgraded to 1809 yet (waiting since October), only to see there's a 1903!

What could be causing me to not get these upgrades? I always allow upgrades, and receive the regular security updates. Can anyone give me a clue, 'cause I seem to have run out.

I'm no expert but, I would suggest running the "Windows Update troubleshooter" in settings for starters.

My system didn’t auto update to v.1809 until the May 2019 Patch Tuesday update. That was a full year after updating to v.1803. Auto Update checks nearly every day on my system, but it took until last month for my system to become “eligible” for v.1809. Now WU states that FU v.1903 is available for downloading and installation every time I open the WU page in Settings. This is the way it’s supposed to work. Perhaps something in your system is preventing the auto update to v.1809? However, I see your system specs. State you are on v.1809, typo?

One laptop is 1809, the other is still 1803.

Long story short, I had to manually start the upgrade (to 1903) for both machines, and it took 6 hours for the 1809, and the 1803 is still working on it after 9 1/2 hours. But it's almost finished.

It has been reported here that the update to v.1903 can take a long time if done via WU. Something about how the update is done by tediously checking and reusing applicable files from the previous version. Other methods that simply install the entire new version over the old one take less time. I’m lazy and will use WU to update to v.1903 when I feel it’s time to do so. Hopefully, you backed both systems up prior to doing the updates to v.1903.

One is backed up nightly, the other is on continuous backup. So all good there.
