You have 10 days after the upgrade in which you can go back to your previous version.

    Bree,

Let me tell you why I want to go back to the previous version of Windows 10. I would appreciate some one with more experience to look at my reasoning and tell me if my approach is sound or there is a better way.

On 7/2/19, I discovered that my Outlook PST files were gone and I had no emails and no email addresses. I contacted HP paid support and they recreated PST files for my three email address and they suggested that I upgrade to 1903. I followed there suggestions.

As I started to add back my email contacts and configure Outlook to how I use it, I discovered that the PST file names were named emailaddress-test.pst. I did not think that was correct and I did not know how easy it was to repair. I contacted HP support and they replaced the PST files with emailaddress.pst. But I was back to no email contacts.

I continued to work with modifying Outlook to how I use it, I realized that Outlook looked completely different than what I was using before this all happened. I am assuming that when I updated to 1903, the build had a newer version of Outlook and that is what I started to use. I found that I could not configure Outlook to the way I used it previously. It also had features under each email for calendar, journal, notes, outbox, rssfeed and tasks that I never saw before or will I ever use.

I don't know how to tell which version of Outlook I am using.

My thinking is that if I go back to 1809, I might get back the version of Outlook that I was using before.

I would be very grateful if you have any suggestions to help me. If you have questions, let me know.

I have windows 10 pro version.

    Thank you
    Regards,
    Nils

How long ago did the update to 1903 happen? Also @Bree posted the link to the tutorial to roll back.

Nah, you won't - not for long anyway.

If you restore back your system you'll get whatever version you had on your backup.

Then Outlook will upgrade. Outlook and Windows aren't tied together and how Outlook updates depends on if you have Office 365 subscription or you bought a standalone version of Office.

If you roll-back Windows to previous version it will not roll-back your apps.

Of course you do If you can ask a question on any forum you can definitely type What version of Outlook do I have? into Google

The main difference is is you have a subscription (you pay $10 a month or so) or you bought the whole thing for several hundred $ as a one off.

Neither channel will be affected by your version of Windows (assuming 1809/1903) though.

    Hi folks.

I'm mystified why an upgrade to 1903 or any other version of Windows would do anything to Office at all -- other than provide normal updates for these products -- Office 2010, Office 2013, Office 2016, Office 2019 and Office/365 are all in regular support mode currently. These will run and get regularly updated on any current version of Windows so if not working properly then something is hosed up in your Windows system.

The advice as always is before doing any update especially an update of Windows itself is to take an image of your system before updating --there's a few good FREE products out there and even on modest hardware this task shouldn't take more than 30 mins -- well worth the time spent if things don't work out properly.

Then if you don't like the update or it doesn't work simply restore the image and your computer will be in the identical state before you upgraded it.

No Brainer -- all ways round --so many problems can be avoided if people just did a system image backup every so often --especially as there's plenty og good free software around to do it.

    @lx07

Plenty of cheap (legal) versions of Office 2019 from Amazon etc etc -- these all seem to work OK by all accounts and update properly -- can't see any "Pirate activation mechanisms" such as kms stuff in the 2 copies of Office 2019 Pro I bought from amazon at 46 EUR each - they give you the img file --identical sha to those on Ms servers so 2 licenses total 92 EUR -- both working fine and even with a new clean Windows install ( I tried the latest 20H1 buld as a new clean install as a test) Office 2019 activated perfectly.

Screenshot shows for Office 2019 Pro "Product activated" and is the current latest version (updates from Ms working properly).

How do I reverse the update 1903 for Windows 10, go back to 1809-o2019.png

If those cheap licenses were a problem I think both Ms and Amazon would have done something by now -- obviously not a problem for Ms.

    Cheers

Thank you for all the input.

I don't know why Outlook is working the way it is but it is working differently then before I lost my pst files.
