Updates have not been updating since KB4503308.

    Hi Everyone,

I have been running into an update problem today with the update KB4501375, I receive the error 0x8000ffff.

I have looked into my update history and it seems the last few have not updated....see image. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I think there may be some file corruption somewhere because when I run SFC /Scannow it states there is a system repair pending and requires a reboot message.....when I reboot nothing is repaired and windows loads as normal.

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I have tried via windows updates and standalone .msu

Try running the Update troubleshooter and see if it does anything to help you. Type "Troubleshoot" in settings, and it should take you to that facility under Update & Security, from which you'll pick the final item shown at bottom:

If this doesn't work, post again here and we'll figure other strategies out with you.

Thank you for the reply Ed.

The troubleshoot didn't find anything wrong.

    EDIT_

I had a moment to dig around this evening and came across this in the Event Viewer.

I have a feeling I might need to reinstall or do an .ISO update? What do you think?

I suggest running a "Repair install", also known as an "In-Place Upgrade", using a Windows installation disk [USB/DVD].

You do not disturb your own files or your installed applications using this procedure.

You boot Windows normally then run the setup.exe found on the installation disk.

You do not boot from the installation disk

    Chris,

Just for completeness, now that the problem has been resolved, I considered other suggestions before deciding that the combination of symptoms required a Repair install. They are worth noting for future reference.

1 About the SFC symptom - The tutorial takes you through this including the closely-related Dism scanning-repairing task -
    SFC - TenForumsTutorials
and there's more about Dism in DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image - TenForumsTutorials
