Windows 10 crashing is keeping Windows XP alive.

Thank god XP still runs. I have been using XP to fix Windows 10!

Did you know Windows Update sets monitors to resolutions they can not possibly achieve?
Windows XP on the other hand sets monitors to a default resolution that is guaranteed to work!

Did you know that running simultaneous updates by Windows Update and various 3rd Party Updater's trashes 10 big time.
Windows XP allowed me to run updates at the end of the month, sequentially when necessary.

I would never run multi-simultaneous-installations by choice, that is just plain stupid?
Auto Update - a truly great idea!

    Windows 10 runs updates hourly.

I don't think its working so its keeps trying over and over again, that makes simultaneous updates a likely occurrence.
I have been trying to manually install the updates, but its hard to find out how to do that.
I use Event Viewer a lot, unfortunately.

I think that Windows Updater may be in error concerning the Office XP Service Pack 3 update.

    1) I do not have Windows Office.
    2) Word 2002 needs the correct Office XP Service Pack 3 version?

I could manually install Office XP Service Pack 3 for Word 2002 if I could find it.

Office XP SP3 English - SoftPedia [57.5MB download - I downloaded it just to make sure their link worked and it all seems to be in order]

By the way, you do have [part of] Office XP - Word XP [Word 2002] is part of it.

I just figured out why Windows Updater is aborting, its trying to download an update that no longer exists from the servers!

That Windows 10 1709 release broke 10; which forced me to buy a new power supply for the Windows XP computer; I know that I am stupid for fixing XP, but I needed a working computer to research the problem and sometimes you have to go with whats operational.

Windows 10 has been getting more and more stable and running better, especially after the Windows 10 Pro version Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.248) release. I was very pleased MS removed the VRAM restriction from DX9.

Windows Updater actually detected a problem that had been randomly crashing my Window 10 applications.

Windows Updater actually reported that the Intel Watchdog Timer Drivers were not properly installed and re-installed them. This matched the Event Viewer "Watch Dog Timer Error" messages at the time of the crashes.

I will check out the update. Thanks.

I am not so sure that was a good idea?

Windows 10 Updater needs a line item veto more than Trump does!
I bet they are no longer on the server, Hee, Haw.

Do I need to file a trouble report with Microsoft - Windows Updater unable to install updates that no longer exist?

I see, the problem is that the 0x80096004 error is a hexadecimal number!

Thanks for pointing that out to me. Best laugh I have had today. I guess they don't know.

I have opened a bug report with Microsoft. This is a Microsoft Update Server problem.
