    Why does this new update not download itself at a non- active time as all the other updates did ? ? ?

    Hi, assuming:
    a. you are receiving it by Windows Update
    b. you are running either build 1803 or 1809 which are up to date

    then you should have been offered a 'Download and install' option, such that the download only started after you clicked that.

    Otherwise, please advise in what circumstances the download started, including your full build number at that time. Thanks.

    The new 'download and install now' option for a Feature Update is Microsoft's response to users (particularly those with Home) asking for more control over updates.

    Microsoft said:
    Starting with update KB4497934, we are introducing functionality that allows you to decide when to install a feature update. You control when you get a feature update while simultaneously keeping your devices up to date. Feature updates that are available for eligible devices will appear in a separate module on the Windows Update page (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update). If you would like to get an available update right away, select Download and install now. To find out more about this feature, please go to this blog.

As needed, Windows Update notifies when to restart computer. 1903 brings a new setting in WU (circled in screenshot) and I can't find a more detailed explanation for it. Am I correct in thinking if this is turned on, the computer will restart...
