I just installed the feature update on my main rig (System Spec 1) from Windows Update. Here are my results:

    • Start , getting things ready: 5 min
    • Download: 5 min
    • Installing: 25 min
    • Restart to Desktop: 6 min
    • Reconfigure custom settings: 20 min

I can report the results on the other, older PCs and laptops as the upgrade comes up for each.

That is impressive. I think you can thank the M.2 NVMe for most of that performance I've just let Windows Update upgrade an i7-4600U machine and although faster than my first, the disk-intensive stages were still held back by the 'spinner' HDD. I didn't time that one, but we were still talking in hours.

I had the similar results as @TV2 with the 2 HP Spectre x2 laptops I've updated, except my downloads were 40-50 mins not 5 mins. Five mins is amazing! I'm guessing you're not on slow ADSL broadband like me though, haha. The getting things ready, installing & restart to desktop took the same times though.

You just have to look at TV2's 'My Computer' specs to see why...

    Internet Speed: 300 mbps

    (I'm quite jealous )

    PC #2 (System Spec 2):
    Getting things ready: 7m
    Downloading: 4m
    Installing to 100%: 29m
    Fail
3rd times the charm: Restarting now.

Same here. Waiting for 1903 may take all week. What a sham.

    Wow. What a difference
Laptop. 7th gen i5 mobile processor, slow spinner, a mere 12GB RAM. Wireless network, but router does about 400 mbps real world.

Getting ready and download: 24m (I left the room at 16m getting ready , don't know how long DL took)
    Installing: 103m (yikes!)
    Restart and to desktop: 29m

    Sorry to burst in
With my (fast) desktop PC and (fast) broadband speed, the "official" Windows update to 1903 (via Settings) takes an astonishing 7-8 hours to complete!!! Then - what else is new with Windows updates after a first attempt? - it fails miserably, this time with a 0x800705b4 error.
So: where is the best place to download an up to date ISO, so that I can make a manual install after a clean boot? Can you guys provide me with a link? I had a look at Windows 10 Update center but there is such a great amount of various versions on display there, that it gets a bit confusing.
Oh yes, I am updating from 1809 to 1903... 64 bit.
And, by the way, how should one describe a 0x800705b4 error? After some research, it seems to cover such a vast field of possible causes, that it just signifies nothing at first sight.
    Thanks.

    Haku ,

Please open a new thread: https://www.tenforums.com/installation-upgrade/

    Run setupdiag: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...rade/setupdiag

Post the results into the new thread using a share link (one drive, drop box, or google drive).

After posting the results (if unremarkable) perform an in place upgrade repair using an identical iso build.
