0x80248007 Windows Update Error in W10 1903 update

Yes, I know, yet another Windows "feature update" error.

Is there anything to be gained by blocking this update for another 35 days in the wild hope that MS will have resolved matters and the update will then be installed correctly?

Alternatively, in what escalating order should I attempt to resolve error 0x80248007?

I have a lot of non-standard software in my current W10 1809 and I do not wish to lose it with a fresh installation via media of W10 1903.

    Another option:
How can I suspend the installation of W10 1903 until May 12, 2020 (Windows 10 version 1809 end of service life)?

    Thanks.

Hi, starting with build 1809 17763.529 you have a 'Download and Install' option when a feature update is available via WU.

This means you can postpone this until end of life for 1809- say May 2020.

Then I sincerely hope you have followed this forum's extremely frequent advice to use disk imaging routinely e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) to give you a means of recovery, probably without technical help, even if your disk fails.

Make sure you have a current disk image before attempting a feature update: disable or uninstall security software, make sure you have, say, 30Gb free space on C: More here if you follow the relevant links:

    dalchina,
Thanks for your reply and the links. I already have Macrium Reflect.

    I have W10 Pro build 17763.437.

I was not given the option to Download & Install when it was suitable for me.

The update was carried out automatically after the installation of several other less important updates.
    I had no input.

Will the Reset option definitely work?

Hi, as said above, that option became available from a later build of 1809 than you have. (See the last digits).

As you have Pro, you have paid for the ability to defer feature updates for up to 365 days via Settings or the Group Policy editor. As you clearly didn't like having the feature update applied, it's unfortunate you hadn't made use of this.

Will the Reset option definitely work?
It will almost certainly do what the bat file is programmed to do. (One has to allow for every possibility).

Whether it will fix your particular problem is a matter of experiment. I'm afraid my crystal ball is currently down for scheduled maintenance

    dalchina,
I am going to use Macrium to go back to an earlier drive snapshot and then defer the 1903 update.

Thanks for your advice and help.
