ShowKeyPlus shows no OEM key, even though I changed the product key using my Win Pro 8.1 product key.

It only shows the embedded generic key VK7JG ……. 3V66T.

When I ran Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on the computer before Windows 10, I had to install Intel chipset software. So if the chipset can be written on, surely there must be a way to delete data from it?

It annoys me that I've got a $650 extreme mobo "infected" permanently with MS data!

It's like my Intel mobo has been branded by a M$ rustler!

The only key that is 'embedded' in the motherboard is the one ShowKeyPlus calls the 'OEM key', and according to you your mobo doen't have one.

The other key(s) ShowKeyPlus displays (Installed key or Original key) are NOT embedded, they are read from the Registry of you installed OS.

You changed the product key using the Win Pro 8.1 key and the registry now contains the generic Win 10 Pro key - that is normal behaviour.

Ditto what @Bree stated. If ShowKey Plus is not showing an OEM product key, then you don't have one embedded in your motherboards firmware, which would be correct if you purchased a retail motherboard and built your own computer. What you have is a digital license for Windows 10 obtained from the original Windows 7 product key. Darn Microsoft anyway.....how dare they give you a digital license for Windows 10 like every other Windows 10 user has. It's just not right. They should honor everyone's uniqueness and individuality instead of treating us like just another computer user. I worked hard for the money to buy that product key with, dang it, and Microsoft just strips it away from me like it was nothing. Well, it's something to me!

Yup - I looked through the Digital Licence/Genuine ticket to see if perhaps the Win8/7 key was stored in there somewhere but to no avail, a lot of it is encrypted - it does show the old edition of that key (unencrypted) , however, but suffice to say the actual key is not available...

The OEM embeded key, "if it is there", is not sored in a section of the firmware that can be overwritten and or altered in anyway. Not without destroying the chip. That just how it is. And its not Microsoft that puts it there, its the OEM that does it.
And as posted, it looks like your motherboard doesn't have one anyway so don't worry about it. It would only be in a motherboard that originally shipped as part of a system that was preactivated by the OEM. Buy just a new motherboard as a stand alone item and its not going to have an OEM embedded key. Buy one second hand and maybe maybe not. That depends on how it originally left the factory and was sold to retailers.
