Update 1803 to 1809 not offered?

I just checked and loaded the latest updates to 18-03 (build 17134.799) and Windows Update says I am up to date. Why do I not receive 1809? I am not in a hurry to go to 19-03 after reading about the problems, but I would like to get to 1809.

    configuration:
    1 year old HP Envy i5 with 12GB memory; SSD 128GB (54 free), D: 820GB with 700+GB free).

Just download the 1809 Iso file, right click on the Iso file and choose to open it with Windows Explorer and click on setup, the upgrade will begin.

    TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)

You could get it from the Microsoft site, but you would need to use the correct 1809 Download Tool, someone else would have to tell you how to obtain that.

Most people I`ve talked to have had no issues with 1903.

Also, using Windows Update is the worst way to update.

Rather than the MCT, @miken707 could download the ISO for 1809 (October 2018 Update) direct from Microsoft using Option Three in this tutorial.

    Download Windows 10 ISO File

Most computers have not even gotten 1809 via Windows Update yet. The same thing happens with every version upgrade, dozens of people post "why haven't I got it?" The answer is that Windows Update is absolutely the worst way to get version upgrades.

and that is why I never download Win10 feature upgrades thru windows update and always use the ISO method to install new Win10 feature upgrades

Why is it the worst? Because MS sucks at upgrading their own OS? Starting with Windows 10 MS took away control of updates yet people here constantly want the average user to install this or that using and ISO or tool or whatever. I think that is doing others a disservice. Instead focus on getting MS to upgrade their OS properly as they promised when Windows 10 was introduced.

And now they have given some of it back, both Home and Pro now can choose when (or even if) to install a feature update. This applies to 1803, 1809 and 1903.

Here it is in 1809 Home, nothing will happen until/unless you click 'Download and install now'.

I routinely use the ISO method as it seems more reliable, but I've let windows update deliver the 1903 feature update for two of my machines, most recently for my test machine (System Two in my specs). I was surprised to see it being offered 1903 (despite it being a 2009 vintage PC) while running its 1803 image.

So I decided to let windows update 'Download and install now' just to see how well (or badly) it works for 1903. Installed without a hitch (albeit a little slowly, it's only got a 1.9GHz Celeron).

Interesting that the "Download and Install now" option screen did not appear on my system after the v.1809 update on 05/15/19. It did show up after the CU KB4503327 on 06/12/19.
