Feature update to 1903 stuck on download 99%

So I checked WU today and the latest feature update was offered. I’m just over an hour in since requesting but having reached ‘downloading 99%’ it seems to of stayed like this for a good 25-30 minutes. Is this normal? Granted it’s not a quick machine (celeron) and maybe should leave it alone to do its thing? Would of been nice to of seen some movement before I have to head out to work (my mistake trying this before work but I’d hoped giving it an hour and a half would of been enough time). I checked task manager & can see ‘service host windows update’ is consuming a reasonably constant 30% on cpu activity so presume background work is going on. Download activity definitely seems to of ceased. Guess I’ll maybe have to leave the machine on and see where it is later this evening. Just not happy having to leave it alone half way through as I like to babysit any kind of cumulative or major feature update. But I was curious of other people’s observations

Ony 20-30 mins? Pretty quick...compared to many..
    Update finished...yay

On my 2nd PC left overnight, same % next morning, I did a hard reset, and on reboot it undid changes. Good. I then attempted the upgrade with the iso, as before, but not accepting updates.

    This finished quickly.

    No issues with space.

Is it apparently 'stuck' at 'downloading 99%'? it's not actually stuck, it's doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Windows Update is possibly the slowest way to update to 1903.Wait patiently and it should complete I timed it from start to finish for one of my machines here:

How long does the 1903 upgrade take using Windows Update?

I've tried to download the update many times. It hits 100% and stays there and there still is download traffic. Even if left sitting overnight. New laptop, HP 17 but slow internet connection at 600kbps. I've cleared the update cache and it started over. But never completes the download.

Please download the iso (MS Media Creation tool) and use that; log in, mount the iso, run setup.exe from the new disk drive created.

Then, when offered the choice, choose not to accept updates as part of the procedure.

Do you know where the iso file is, and can you see it in file explorer?

Best first uninstall any security software. Are you using a 3rd party AV or firewall?

As I posted above: expanded here for you
log in, right click and Mount the iso, Open the new drive letter created in file explorer; run setup.exe from the new disk drive created.

(Note, Mount will not be available if you have associated iso files with another program).

Then, when offered the choice, choose not to accept updates as part of the procedure.

If that is the case, then to mount it right-click on the iso file and select Open with > Windows Explorer.
