For once I got the latest Windows Update offered in a timely manner. And I regret installing it. OrchestratorUpdate service will mess up the sleep function. So if you value having your computer sleep properly, don't install 1903.

I wonder how widespread that is?

    Perhaps I'll sleep on it.

That's just part of the problem. I can disable the task or modify its conditions and the computers will stay asleep. But a similar task is preventing the computers from going to sleep on their own.

    powercfg -requests shows

    EXECUTION:[SERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\System32\svchost.exe (UsoSvc)Universal Orchestrator

Most definitely. I see that even after using PCTools to allow me to change the task function to not allow the task to wake the computer, it reenabled itself. Throwing my hands up on this one.

My Acer laptop shows it isn’t ready to update to May 2019. I read the ‘Learn more’ article but still don’t understand why. The only thing I can think of is that I have a flash drive attached as the storage capacity on this laptop I’ve very small. There is only Windows 10 installed. I keep One Drive, Dropbox, etc, on the flash drive.

Error attempting to update with external USB device or memory card attached
PCs with an external USB device or SD memory card attached may get error: "This PC can't be upgraded to Windows 10."
    - from link below. So to bypass that you would need to detach that.

What is the model and age of your laptop? If you look at your manufacturer's site, to what build or edition of Windows is it supported? Strictly, where people update devices to non-supported builds they are taking a risk. Manufacturer's make some effort to provide basic lists of PCs approved for Win 10, and in some cases which are approved for which builds. That said, many people upgrade successfully. Try checking for such an Acer list.

    Please complete your specs.

Unfortunately despite the new informative message, MS does not make it possible to find out why. You might think it logical it would. Perhaps in another 2 or 3 years after enough customer feedback ..? (Please feel free to comment via the Feedback Hub app).

Reasons could include a particular driver or hardware incompatibility, or perhaps installed software.

Note that even PCs first bought with Win 10 can eventually become incompatible with later Windows builds.

Whilst you could upgrade manually (by downloading an iso or creating Win 10 bootable medium) the upgrade is then at your risk. However, given you have restricted storage, that may be the way to go, downloading the iso to external storage and mounting it.

If you have restricted EMMC storage, there are threads on trying to address this on this forum.

Before making any major change to your PC and as a matter of routine practice, this forum frequently advocates the use of disk imaging (e.g. Macrium Reflect - free- + external storage for image files).

This is my ‘spare’ laptop which has Windows 10 Home 2018 x 64 installed.
It’s an Acer 1 which only has a 30GB hard drive so I have a large capacity USB drive permanently connected on which all programs, apart from Windows 10, are stored.
It updated everything up to 2019-06, Version 1809 yesterday.
