I see that the other PC, where I moved the printer to, now has the dreaded HP USB Driver update sitting there waiting to kill the printer. I have hidden that update so that WIN Update won't install it. It might get installed when Win V1809 gets installed - that's what happened on the original PC.
This is nuts!

I gave up and purchased a new printer with Wi-Fi connection. That should get rid of the issue with the USB ports. But I hate giving up my old printer - it's old but prints just fine - HP Photosmart 8150.

old note, but still happens to some people. What I did was go into group policy editor, and turn off automatic driver updates, then I went into c:\windows\softwaredistribution\downloads\ and simply DELETED all of the files that were ready to be used to install new updates.
'seems' to have worked for the particualr driver issue...
