Disable driver updates through Windows update not working with 1903

Well , Im using an option in gpedit , in which you can select a driver from getting updated by MS , Im using this option for my nVidia , you have to insert the ID from the driver and it will not get any updates from MS .
A second option is to switch on ; dont search for drivers in WU .
Its all in gpedit ............
Works perfectly , Im using nVidia from March 2019 , and MS did not updated it when upgrading from 1809 to 1903.
Keep in mind ; when you want to update the driver manual , by yourself , you have to switch off this option in gpedit , or you can not update the driver.............!

Did you insert the ID of the driver(s) you dont want to update by MS..........?

Where is the option for specific driver id force off in gpedit? Can you include a screencap, and how would I know the id for the DPTF package?

Search in "Installing devices "........sorry , Im on a Dutch Win10 ,its difficult to explain in English .
Go to ; 'Installing of devices with one of these IDs cancel " , these options are all together.
If you have found the option , go to your drivers and look for the ID of the driver(s) , you want to exclude from updating.
Insert the ID-Number in gpedit and switch on ............done !


" Should that work? "................yep , ID-numbers ! Better take the first ID-number ,above in the list .
For security you can insert some more ID-numbers .

This was not the case with 1803. This seems like a bug or MS changed the way Windows handles driver updates... Is there maybe a new flag you need to set with 1903? Or they even removed the option for it? Maybe accidentally... because of the change they made to the Update system for 1903.

might want to use wushowhide.diagcab from Microsoft support KB article 3073930 to hide/block any unwanted driver updates, which should work even in 1903

No (-: It does not work for the Intel DPTF driver package. This is a bug glitch or wanted behavior it seems by MS, to exclude some packages which still be installed.

I kinda found out that it may be the so-called "device driver retrieval client" module (there's a DLL file in the Windows\System32 folder with that name) that is silently downloading & installing driver updates.

I use PowerRun to load either Explorer++ or Winfile from github with either SYSTEM or TrustedInstaller rights and rename that DLL file from the System32 folder [which normally can't be done with Admin rights]. that actually worked in stopping automatic driver updates on one of my PCs using Win10 v190x while leaving an internet connection running for a long time - works until either re-installing Win10 or installing a new feature update which will require renaming that dll file again
