    I want to know if my windows 10 digital license is transferrable

    i currently have a second hand laptop which was updated from windows 7 to 10 few months ago so now theres a digital license linked to my microsoft account.This laptop was a gift from someone and now i m getting a custom built pc for myself and if possible i would prefer transferring my license from this device to that one.Usually laptops come with oem license but on checking my license type using cmd command it says that my license belongs to retail channel,so is my win 10 digital license transferrable or am i to get a new one?

    If the original Win 7 license was retail, and your current one is therefore retail, then you should be able to do do that.
    To check:
    Determine if Windows License Type is OEM, Retail, or Volume

    It will make it easier if your license is linked to a MS live id:
    Link Microsoft Account to Windows 10 Digital License

    Transfer:

    Thats one mistake of mine,before updating i didnt bother checking my license type,but after the update when i check it says retail channel(in the screenshot) and for the digital license part yes it is linked to my microsoft account.Also what bugs me most is the fact that i read somewhere that if you update from an OEM version win 7 key to win 10 then the cmd procedure you posted above might show its retail and still might not be transferrable I want to know if my windows 10 digital license is transferrable-capture.png

    updated from windows 7 to 10
    - presumably via the 'free' upgrade route with no license purchase?

    Activated via the retail channel means nothing regarding if the Windows was a full retail version or an OEM version. All it means is that the activation is a retail consumer type activation, IE Windows was purchased with a computer sold at retail to member of the general public and the Windows is not a corporate edition activated via a corporate activation.

    Your Windows is OEM based on the results of Showkey Plus.

    For future reference, the Product ID is not sensitive information, it's not unique to your PC and need not be obscured. The Keys are unique and should be hidden, ShowKey can do this for you, just click on them.

    If your Installed Key ends with 3V66T as in the example below then it is the generic Windows 10 Pro key which you'll get when upgrading from Win7/8 Pro but will not on its own activate windows.

    @dalchina
    ... per your PM request, my comment...

    As @NavyLCDR subsequently correctly pointedout, Win 10 was upgraded from an OEM licence -and acquires an OEM Win 10 digital licence ... the key may be retail but does not have an effect on the licence (as much as hardware does) - dunno why MS did not just use a generic OEM key and save the confusion...

    The interesting bit, is that the previous installation was a 'factory' licence (OEM: SLP) yet there is no firmware marker - I suspect an exploit was used to acivate Win 7 (albeit the Store version of ShowKey is not as Win 7 friendly, in this instance I'm 99% sure it's correct.)
