Thanks for all your help zbook, but in the end I had to do a clean install of Windows. Now to spend the rest of the day reinstalling everything and setting up all my configs and logins again. From now on I'll be putting off installing "updates" as much as possible.

The best tested drivers are displayed on the computer or motherboard manufacturers website.

After installing drivers and applications make a backup image:
(Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.)
These have free and pay versions depending on the features desired.
Save the backup image on another disk drive or the cloud.

Macrium is widely used in Ten Forums:
Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything
Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect | Tutorials

    Glad to see it sorted.
    You are welcome.

When there is failure to boot a reset save files equivalent (using the windows 10 iso) is often a viable backup option.
There is nothing like a clean install to clean up any residual problems related to windows on multiple drives, old upgrade issues, or partition problems.

Let us know if you need any help in the future.

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem right now and I forced my computer to open Advanced options and from there I chose 'Startup repair'. After that it seems like the same loop just goes on and on. For some 40 mins now. Is it actually repairing something or should I boot again and try other methods like Command Prompt or System Restore?
