    W10 always downloading data

    Greetings

First im not the average pc user im a bit tech savvy very experienced windows user
(i run 7 since 2009) now im testing 10 for 2 weeks (clean iso trial where it asks for the serial)

but now this problem is driving me nuts ; basically i disabled the updates in settings, gpedit and services even the bits one to disabled and never resume

but i think the system override that after reboot it downloads again the process is backgroundsystemhost

which i can block only with netlimiter but i need a permanent solution ( im on a metered but quite large mobile plan hundreds of gb per month, but you get the idea) thanks for any help

Hi, welcome to tenforums. There isn't a clear question in your post- indeed there is no question.

I will guess you are attempting to disable Windows Update. Please be advised that MS is quite good at overcoming elementary methods. I will assume you have Win 10 Home rather than Pro, which offers more options.

    Please see e.g.
Stop Windows 10 Updates Properly and Completely Solved - Windows 10 Forums

Using metered connection to try to block updates (possible for ethernet and Wifi) is only partially effective- and MS will deliver important updates irrespective of that.

Further, please note in particular that if a feature update (upgrade) fails, it may well be repeated, leading to repeated large downloads.

Once you have blocked updates, you can manually search for and optionally receive them using freeware: Windows Update Manager or Windows Update Minitool.

This has been discussed numerous times here.

You mention gpedit - which suggests you may have Pro. (I will not consider the possibility of attempting to add gpedit to a Home installation).

With Pro you can defer feature updates for up to 365 days (Settings or group policy), and set updates to 'Notify' - i.e. when you decide to accept them- via group policy.

There are other update possibilities which can be limited in settings- UWP app updates.

Also check other programs and drivers, for instance, my AMD graphic card driver checks for updates every day.
