    Problem with update KB4483452

Hi all, Belarc Advisor is reporting that the update KB4483452 is missing. However when I check Windows Update it reports that my system is Up to Date and additionally when I view the Update history it reports that the mentioned update was successfully installed on ‎2/‎12/‎2019. How can I make sure that the update is really installed? Or is it a Belarc flaw? Thanks

    Most likely a Belarc flaw.

It was replaced by KB4486553 on March 1.

Although a fine program I'd have to agree with Porthos, it might be that Belarc needs updating, did you notice if it updated itself when you opened it, and did you run it as administrator?

If you're still on v1803 you can go into: control panel >windows updates >and near the bottom of the left panel you should see installed updates click on that and a new window will open, wait until it populates then enter 4483452 in the search box to the upper right corner, then wait until the search finds it or not.

If you're on v1809 the way to get there has changed and it's a little more complicated, I'll wait until your reply.

    Thanks everyone for your reply!
    Porthos: I hope so!

Phone Man: The Update History is showing that KB4486553 was successfully installed on 3/1/19. If this is a replacement for KB4483452 then the question is again why Belarc cares to report the old update as missing

Anak: I'm using the latest Belarc version 9 and running it as Administrator. My Windows version is 1809 build 17763.379

    • Open control panel.
    • Type installed updates in the upper right search box.
    • You should see program and features in the upper left corner with view installed updates underneath, click on that.
    • Wait till it populates.
    • Check for your installed updates.

Hi Anak, it's strange, I followed your procedure and KB4483452 does not show, however as I mentioned it does show in the Update History. I'm attaching screenshots.

A long time ago in a far away Forum I was in your situation when a wise and honorable member in the ways of windows updates told me that you need to trust the listings in installed updates.

History is just that, history of what took place. Installed is what is actually on your machine.

In post #3 Phone Man posted that KB4483452 was replaced or superseded by KB4486553 and in future updates you will see the same behavior where 6553 will be replaced by a different KB#.
You will see both 6553 and the new KB# listed in history but only the new KB# in the installed listing. It would be to your advantage to save the link that Phone Man provided so you can go back to check. In that link you can see that the next update after or above 3452 is 6553, that means it was replaced. It does seem strange but is perfectly normal in the world of windows updates.

I sincerely hope Windows never takes away the ability to check for installed updates. One last resort is to open an elevated CMD prompt and type systeminfo.exe at the blinking cursor and touch the Enter or Return key on your keyboard and let the CMD finish and you'll see near the bottom of the report a list of hotfixes which is another term for updates.

It may not have been that long ago but in the world of computers it is, it was about 2012 and that far away Forum is SevenForums, and that wise and honorable member is NoelDP. I see he is also here on TenForums @NoelDP
