How do I activate my Home edition to Pro?

I just went thru the microsoft store to buy the upgrade to Pro. I got an email with the order number. How do I activate the Pro? I thought it would happen automatically thru the Microsoft account. It didn't.

Can you explain further. I don't understand what I am to do after purchasing the pro and watching my computer go thru the process. How do I get a product key or digital number to be picked up by OS? If signing in with my Microsoft account doesn't do it, then what?

I had an OEM version of Home before this upgrade, if that makes a difference.

The tutorial: from step 5 after purchase.. as your Windows was activated, as you say, no key would be needed.

I still don't know what to put in product key. I didn't get one.

'C) Enter your Windows 10 Pro product key, and go to step 5 below. (see screenshot below)

Sorry, just re-read the tutorial- should be step 5- you were right, it should have identified you.

Yes that is the issue I guess. I don't think I missed anything in the process.

Sorry, my mistake- what exactly did you do after step 3 in the tutorial... after you paid... as you say, it should have recognised your digital entitlement, and then you should have continued as in step 5 (no license needed).

The download and upgrade proceeded. After a reboot and a check in settings I saw that Windows was not activated. I had expected it to put a digital number in associated with my Microsoft account. I will call them tomorrow.

Your regional activation centre should be able to help- they are said to be amenable. Good luck..
