win 10 1893 os build 17763.107 strange behaviour

    Hi Chaps,

I'm getting some strange stuff going on after (I think) an update.
MS Edge disappeared from the taskbar and I cant use any of the check for updates or view update history.
All my favourites bar icons have reverted back to just stars in Edge and there was a problem logging in to Win 10 a couple of times. I don't really want to reinstall so any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi spottydog10

Your system is still well behind in updates.

Are you delaying or are they failing. If delaying I would recommend releasing.

If failing then you need to resolve. Could you check? View your update history.

At this point I might try the inplace repair.

While non destructive process I would recommend backing up your personal data. Always good to have a backup. I assume you still have some control of device.

    Inplace repair / upgrade tutorial

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

I would also start using a tool like Macrium Reflect to takes System Image backups. Sounds like your update to 1809 didn't go 100%. Do you know when this update occurred. You maybe able to recovery back to 1803 if this happened in last 10 days. Please comment before doing inplace repair.

With a System Imaging tool you would restore and do again. (Make the boot media required by the tool. ) You also need a process for your data as your system images may not be created as frequently as you create data.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

I used a Macrium image of 1709 as I haven't got time to mess about.
I'll try the 1803 update again at some point, thanks for the help Ken,
