    Windows update error (0x80080005)

So normally I'm able to update windows whenever I check for updates but this time it just keeps giving me this error. I've watched many videos on this as well as reading many articles but for whatever reason I still haven't found or soloutuin nor have got a solution form other threads. Simplily changing from disabled does not work in this case, it's as if its stuck on disabled in the services menu. If I try running it in automatic or manuel and hit start it gives me the error 1114, a dynamic link load library initiation has failed. Ive tried the net stop routine but again the update services fails to restart. Im on Version 1809, OS build 17763.292. ANy help would be greatly appraciated.

Hi, to what does 'it' refer please?

I'm guessing in the second case you might be referring to the state of some service. I might guess you mean this one:
    Windows update error (0x80080005)-1.jpg

Which update in particular is causing you a problem? KB...........
    Presumably this one:Cumulative Update KB4487044 Windows 10 v1809 Build 17763.316 - Feb. 12 Windows Update - Windows 10 Forums

    - note you can download it manually.

First please try running the troubleshooter, bottom right

If that fails to fix Windows update, try

If still no success, try Tweaking.com's free cautious repair tool, observing all steps, and selecting only the relevant repair(s) - Windows Update. It's easy to find.

It sounds as if your services may be in a mess. Try the last two steps.

If no joy after that, we'll step back and do basic checks.

    1. First check your disk(s):
Download and run Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) (includes SSDs)
(This gives exceptionally good text comments)
Post a screenshot of its GUI using the Insert Image icon above your post.
If all disks are reported as good, continue.

    2. Now check your file system:

From an admin command or powershell prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
    chkdsk C: /scan

and report the result. Note this fixes nothing.

"So normally I'm able to update windows whenever I check for updates but this time it just keeps giving me this error."

I recently ran into this on a computer that I support. Troubleshoot Update failed with errors, couldn't find new updates.
I ran scannow, no errors to fix. I deleted the contents of the Windows/SoftwareDistribution folder (or rename to .old works too) to cleared out all old downloads, in case one of them was corrupted. I Reset WU, using the tute linked to in post 2 and rebooted. Ran Troubleshoot WU again, no errors. Clicked Check for Updates and all installed, no issues.
May or may not work for you but should take less than 15 minutes to find out. good Luck

OK so with the bat tool I saw that the windows service failed to start. It also messed with some settings but as I previously said, those problems were fixed thanks to the running of the trouble shooter. I did install the tweaking in safe mode and it showed that it had started but again when in services, windows update it continues to give me the error 1114. As far as the hard disk sentinel, I still don't know what exactly I'm supposed to press on to show on here. Any steps would be greatly appreciated as well. Also, I stumbled under the software distribution folders and there are two there. One reads .bak and the other .old. Should I have two? The one that reads .bak just has an sls folder that leads to nowhere. The other, when comparing to my laptop seems to be missing some stuff. What exactly should be in this folder if it has anything to do with the problem?
