Can Windows 7 be activated by the key that has activated Windows 10?

I use guest Windows 10 in VirtualBox on host Linux. Windows 10 has already been activated by a valid Windows 7 product key. Assuming that I will install guest Windows 7 in the same VirtualBox on the same motherboard, can Windows 7 be activated by the same product key? Can both Windows 7 and 10 be activated with the same key on the same motherboard?

Try it and see. It's the same mobo. However if it doesn't work just activate by phone saying you've moved W7 to a new computer --you don't have to tell them that it's a Virtual Machine.

BTW if you create a Windows VM with VMWARE that activates properly and you copy it to another machine - on first boot click the I MOVED it box rather than I Copied it box. Otherwise Windows will request activation again.

With VBOX I'm not sure you can avoid Windows activation problems if you move the VM on to another computer so decide what you want to do before committing to particular VM software.

Last year, after a motherboard change, my Windows 10 was activated by the same key without having to make a phone call.
