    Windows update not connecting

    Hi,

Not sure if the servers are down?? As for some reason today I keeping getting failed to connect. everything was ok yesterday afternoon, I have rebooted just to make sure and it's still the same.

    Error Encountered

We couldn’t connect to the update service. We’ll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn’t work, make sure that you’re connected to the Internet.

    Thanks , Sam

Just tried in the UK (Midlands) - seemed ok for a Defender update.

If you research that message, you will find a number of results in this forum and elsewhere which may help you.

You can use a free tool as well (can be very useful); wumgr which can be used to scan for, selectively download and hide updates etc - and see if that succeeds.
    Download WuMgr 0.9a

There have been apparent problems with the update servers in the past 24 hours, experienced by myself and others. But they seemed to have been fixed earlier. Maybe they've returned?

Yes - having the same problem here in Bristol UK.
First tried this morning at approx 10-00am - told to retry - still not working at 15-10pm.
Windows troubleshooter says no problems found.

Earlier today the symptoms were that 1803 could not connect at all, while 1809 would get stuck at 0% downloaded.

Just curious, is your ISP Comcast (USA based), or someone else? I assumed it was a Comcast issue since I had the issue since 10pm Eastern Time last night, but the issue is gone the moment I switch to a VPN. According to other users, it seems that might not be the case.
