Check for Windows Updates without Using Windows Update

    Hello,

I have three new Windows 10 EE installations. On all three machines, I currently have updates paused. I have found during my testing that once I click the "Resume Updates" button, it will pull down and install all kinds of stuff - including the undesired "Preview Releases" of updates.

Is there a means for me to find out what updates each of my systems would install when I click the "Resume Updates" button without actually clicking it? Basically, like the old "Check for Updates" functionality from previous Windows versions.

Thanks for any suggestions or assistance!

You could use Windows Update Minitool (free).

I think it's wiser to use Xanatos' Windows Update Manager (WUMgr) instead of WUMT these days. WUMT hasn't been updated since 2016, and Xanatos has released WuMgr as Open Source, and continues to maintain it with each new Win10 Feature Update. Don't believe me? Ask update wizard and TF member @pf100.
    Thanks,

So I currently have Windows Update paused. I last ran it on 12/31/18. I ran Xanatos' Update Manager for Windows and had it check for updates. It came back with "Windows Update (0)" - nothing to install. Should the application still work with updates paused?

@SJMarty: You need to unpause updates (which I believe you can do inside WuMgr).
