I have not found out how to choose upgrades yet, they all seem to be automatic at the moment. I do want that feature back, just so I can check. I usually put them all in anyway.

You can use gpedit to make Windows update ask before it downloads any updates. But since I have not yet been notified about any updates I honestly cannot tell what will happen if there are any. I might be possible that you can choose which one to install and which to ignore but I might just as well be possible that you can only agree to download and install all of them or none. So what I am doing right now is the following: I used gpedit to make Windows update ask whether to download the updates or not. Then I'll use the tool provided by MS to hide all the updates I don't want to install. Afterwards I'll give Windows update a go and hopefully it will only install the updates I did not hide. But that's only the plan, let's see if this plan of mine works or not.

Generally I agree, MS should just have left the original update tool in place. It was functional, no actual need to replace it.

Altae - dont belittle yerself ,you are not a tool !!!!!
@elbmek: Please enlighten me, why did I belittle myself as a tool in the above mentioned sentence? Since you are a native speaker of English and I'm not it would be nice if you could tell me. I'd love to improve my English :)

its a joke altae. Calling a person a tool (in the uk) is a minor insult, hence the smiley face. Its all down to the use of the english language. If I were to ignore the fact that the word' tool' is a shortcut, you could be saying this is the person you need - me!! Dont worry about it, its a play on words.

Thanks for the clarification. Don't you worry, actually I did understand that your post was intended as a joke :) I was just wondering if the reason for this joke was incorrect use of the English language by me. But apparently that was not the case. By the way, the same joke also works in my native language which is German.

    Hi there

It's always IMO better here to have a 3rd party backup / restore than rely on a Windows backup -- what happens if for example you have a Virus -- would you really want to use an Infected copy of Windows to restore or make a backup.

You though can get Limited backup support within W10 by enabling File History --I don't think the overhead is worth it - get a decent Free or even commercial Backup program. You can also boot these when your computer won't boot so you can do if necessary a "Bare Metal Restore".

    Cheers

Ok, so you know Germany and it's language. That's nice even though I'm not from Germany, I'm from Switzerland. But I have been to Germany a few times and it's definitely a nice country (and even if one does not like it there is still the Autobahn with it's non existent speed limits ). It's a pity that I have not managed yet to visit your country of which I'm sure that it is also nice (despite the rain but that of course is a cliché :)).
