    KB44801161 234failed install

Posted elsewhere but cannot delete other post. Please do it for me, thanks.
I simply get a failed install message during the reboot after running the msu which runs fine.
    I have tried :-
    a) running the troubleshooter.
    b) Downloading it for manual install.
    c) running sfc /scannow which actually found a problem or two but didn't cure the install problem.
All other updates have installed OK. All I seem to have managed to prove is that Win Updates is probably not the problem.
    SSU KB4470788 is installed.
UAC turned on for the install.
    Webroot AV Off
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth reports No Corrution.
    Any suggestions welcome.

    Might try Window Updates reset

Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

Is Sfc /scannow reporting any problems or when you ran it it fixed everything?

It fixed 'everything' except the problem, thanks. I did a clean re-install and everything now works. Got rid of a lot of the intrusive MS stuff so it's just about tolerable now I've got rid of the micropauses a greener power setting produced. The reset update didn't work either btw

Thanks for the input. I 'll now close this thread.

Glad you got it fixed. Think we would both agree a clean install should not be the resolution but in a lot of cases it is.

At a guess it's probably about the 20th time this two day event has occurred since Windows appeared in around 1985!
