    Problems on 1803.
    1) Audio behaves differently, by default front jack is not reacting at all.
    2) Folder/Files icons misalignment

    Now I'm back on 1607.0
Then after some time I decided to wipe entire SSD and make clean 1607 install. And what you think...
Added KB4132216, and then tried install KB4478877 (AND SAME PROBLEM)
Logs are full with these errors

Reinstalled once again, skipped KB4132216, and successfully installed 2018-05 Cumulative.
Maybe will create virtual machine, and then experiment there.

    So as temporary solution,
    - took my original W10.1607 ISO (14393.0),
    - used CMD script to integrate necessary updates into (GitHub - abbodi1406/BatUtil: Collection of batch scripts utilities for Windows - W10UI)
    - now when I will decide to reinstall OS, will take ISO that contains all necessary updates.
    + Windows10.0-KB4132216-x64.cab (SSU)
    + Windows10.0-KB4483229-x64.cab (2018-December cumulative)

Tested created ISO on virtual machine, installs fine, and version out of the box is - 14393.2670.

But when I try install other cumulative over it, same problem occurs.
    Reverting/Undoing....
Seems like latest CU updates don't like to be installed over other CU's.

    Conclusion.
    https://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...4#post-1445112

Do NOT install KB4132216 May 2018 servicing stack update on v1607 Home/Pro with non-Clover Trail systems! KB4132216 will prevent future cumulative updates on Home/Pro like KB4103720, KB4103723 & newly released KB4284880 from installing properly and will display error message "we couldn't complete the updates - undoing changes" message on Win10 startup screen as I found out myself the hard way. Have no higher servicing stack 2018 update for v1607 Home/Pro editions than KB4093137, when trying to install at least the KB4103723 May 2018 or higher cumulative patch. Those using Education/Enterprise & LTSB 2016 versions can safely use KB4133216 and May 2018 & later cumulative updates without problems.

    Solution

I figured out how to easy change wcp.dll.
(This allows installing latest CU's, on PRO version)

    0. Install KB4132216.
    1. Get NSudo, ProcessHacker, or other utility that allows you to run software with TrustedInstaller rights/access.
    2. Run with it file manager/explorer (in my case Explorer++)
    3. Navigate to - C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.14393.0_none_36d3ccc3ddfd1ecb
    4. Copy wcp.dll
    5. Paste copied file in - C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.14393.2272_none_7f1843c421e0830a
This folder should appear when you install KB4132216. (if necessary create backup, and replace wcp file)
    6. Install latest cumulatives.
*I think folder names can change for other users, but it should be easy to understand 14393.0 and 14393.2272, where to take file, and where to paste it.

Tested on 2018-12 CU (KB4483229), installed without problems.
Before update system had only 2018-05 CU (KB4103720).

    nice job

that'll allow installing new CUs like the Jan 2019 CUs (KB4480961 & KB4480977) on v1607 Pro AND Home/Core editions. though support for v1607 education & enterprise editions end in April 2019 so they get new CUs until this April.

and yes I was the one who said that ("Do NOT install KB4132216...") in that MDL forum thread several months ago, though I have switched editions from 1607 pro to 1607 education with the win10 license switcher tool from that same MDL forum

note: i could also use Sordum's PowerRun tool to run Winfile, Explorer++, which does the same thing as NSudo and Processhacker

Before update system had only 2018-05 CU (KB4103720).
speaking of KB4483229, that update also requires KB4465659 as noted here:

If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4465659) will be offered to you automatically. To get the stand-alone package for the latest SSU, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog.
cumulative updates KB4467691 & later will also need KB4465659 in addition to KB4132216.

If KB4465659 SSU is installed, copy the older version of the wcp.dll file onto
    C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.14393.2602_none_7ee6020e2207416d

if KB4465659 is not installed, Windows Update will download and install it automatically (unless it was hidden/blocked by wushowhide.diagcab)

I found this thread via a search on the Internet but I've been a long time follower of Windows TenForums.

I'm a big proponent of Windows 7 and Office 2010, basically because of their ease of use and easy on eyes GUI. What MicroThief (my nickname for them) is doing in making people migrate to W10 and Office 2016 is a crime but I won't belabor that point here.

My computer is equipped with a removable hard drive tray so I can swap out multiple O/S hard drives at will. Hence, I have two O/S HD's, one dual booted with XP and 7, and one solely with Windows 10. I once had a tri-boot hard drive with all three (that was fun!) but I decided to split it out and utilize two different hard drives.

When I chose which Windows 10 release to install I went with 1607 because from what I remembered it was the most efficient without a lot of needless programs and clutter. The first time I installed it I got it just the way I wanted it but I kept getting the "Blue Screen of Death" that meant I had to update the drivers. I let DriverEasy do that for me, but little did I know that program also turned off all of the settings and programs I used to keep MicroThief from updating the 1607 to 1803.

    GRRRRRRRRR

So I reprogrammed it again. This time I manually updated the drivers with a back up I made of the driver updates then DriverEasy got a very nasty email from me. All of the software and settings to keep the system O/S at 1607 are still in place, and I was able to start installing the cumulative updates until I reached the same unbreachable wall everyone else hit at Cumulative Update 2018-04 or 05. For me, the last one I could install was April 2018. Nothing else works. The installer works, but when the computer goes through the restarting process and it reaches 99% it rolls back because it couldn't finish. I tried the tweaks that are mentioned in this posting, but they did not work.

So after all that, I'm left wondering:

    1. Am I left with Windows 1607 updated to Cumulative Update April 2018 and no further? If that's the case, why does the Windows Update Catalog still have Cumulative Updates up to the present time?

    2. Why do the tweaks mentioned above work for some but not for others? I performed the steps as laid out to no avail. There is also talk of a "license switcher tool" to switch from 1607 Pro to Education. Is that something I should contemplate?

    3. I'm thinking of just updating 1703/9. Is there an installer I can download to update/upgrade to that release? I'm sure there probably is but I want to ensure I get the right file.

Thanks for hearing me on my first time posting here.

I can only answer question 3.

Get an ISO of either 1703 or 1709. Create media. Navigate to Setup on root of media, double click.

    Clean ISO's

    https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/techno...-download-tool

The process you will follow to update.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

If you run setup with media equal to current version you get repair, with media with a newer version you get upgrade.

Back up your personal data even though the process is non destructive.

I would also recommend creating a system image with a tool like Macrium Reflect so you can restore to current system should something go south. Create the boot media for the tool you choose to image with.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

April 10, 2018 is end of service for Home, Pro, and Pro for Workstation editions, meaning no more updates through Windows Update. But for the Enterprise and Education editions the end of service is April 9, 2019 so they will continue to get updates for a bit longer.

The fact that 'Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB' is also version 1607 and will be supported until October 13, 2026 explains why you will continue to see new CUs on the Update Catalog.

In fact, MS are still issuing new updates for the original 1507 (10240) as that is 'Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB' with support until October 14, 2025.

Wow, Maybe I should have installed the Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB Version 1607.

Thanks for clarifying all that. I dunno about upgrading to 1709 yet since it's "end of service" is gonna run out soon too so I just might stick where I am. Screw MicroThief.
