    Windows update error

This is driving me nuts and I was hoping someone could figure out what app keeps trying to update itself.

    Windows update error-annotation-2018-12-19-114047.jpg

I've tried running sfc /scannow and using the dism commands and it still keeps doing this. I hate seeing yellow exclamation marks in reliability monitor and it's starting to piss me off. I've tried googling what app this is but I can't find anything and as usual searching the Microsoft forums is about worthless. It's been doing this ever since upgrading to 1809. Everything else seems to function normally.

    The exact error message:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070057: 9ND94HKF4S0Z-AppUp.SGXDFP.

    Any help would be appreciated

Hi, it's not at all clear from that which update is being referred to.

9ND94HKF4S0Z-AppUp.SGXDFP - there are a few results on searching for this- it is unfamiliar.

    a. What does your Update History show- is there a corresponding entry? If so it should identify the update.
    b. In Reliability History, what does 'View technical details' show? Could you post that?
    c. Have a look at your Store updates too. Could this be an app update failing?

Try the Windows Update Troubleshooter, and this tutorial:

Thanks, I've already tried what you suggested. I did uninstall onedrive after updating to 1809 so wonder if that's the issue? I just reinstalled onedrive to see if that fixes it.

I miss windows 7, streamlined and simple compared to the convoluted mess you get with 10.

And have you done this- posted above? I suspect you may not have not done all I posted.

There's no errors in my update history from that app I can see, early on I did have a failed windows update but that was resolved and had nothing to do with that error.

This seems to be happening every 24 hours or depending how often I use the system, it's usually on all day without any reboots.

I've also checked the windows store and looks fully updated.

It would be helpful- if possible- to identify what it is that is supposedly being updated. So far, this seems unclear.
Had it been a 'normal' Windows update you'd expect an Update History entry.

You could check this list just to be sure: (Store)

You could try the Windows Update logs, but I'm still not convinced it's really a Windows Update.

** To try to get some visibility of what it is Windows is trying to update, try running Windows Update manually.

Another option: Get Windows Update Minitool (free) and run that.

This may be interesting (French, translated):

In Programs> WindowsApps, there is a folder that starts with AppUp.SGXDFP and the content seems to be related to Intel (there are Intel / version 1809 problems but it is not necessarily that) . There was also a whole series of Intel driver installations when switching to 18.09.
    More from MS on this:

Hello, This error 9ND94HKF4S0Z-AppUp.SGXDFP is an error that appeared with the Windows 10 Update. It will be removed with the hotfix once it has been deployed.
Feel free to come back to me if you have other questions.

Reliability monitor & event viewer error for 9NCGJX5QLP9M 9ND94HKF4S0

Here is how I stopped the error and it was quite simple, see if it works for you...
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\InstallAgent\Checkpoints is where I found the 9ND94HKF4S0Z.dat and 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat. I removed them and only them to a folder I created on my desktop and waited for the error to reappear and it did not. It's been 24 hours so I'm hopeful this resolved the problem. This was not a problem with windows updater. I hope this works for you.

If someone knows why they should not be removed, Please write to me before I delete the desktop folder.

    Thanks

BTW, also, this process must be repeated whenever the Intel Graphics driver updates, at least with regard to the 9NCGJX5QLP9M file. I presume it must be similar when the SGX driver updates too.

Man I have the same damn issue / error code every single day since updating to 1809! My system runs perfect. I think this is a Windows bug because my Windows updates work fine i'm getting all updates that come down. My Windows apps show no issues. I've done the troubleshooter on Windows Updates and Apps, ran SFC a dozen times its always clean but still get that error in EV. I'll chalk it up to what posted above:
