    How to uninstall KB4023057

On Jan 4 I installed KB4023057. I now wish I hadn't and want to uninstall it. I see it listed in "View update history" but it is not listed under "Uninstall update". Some of the fixes installed on Jan 4 are listed, but not KB4023057. How do I uninstall it other that by restoring from an old backup?

I see that KB4023057 is again awaiting download. Odd.

KB4023057 has been updated a few times with the same number. It is important for future WU's. If it's in the download queue, I would let it install, to prevent future update/upgrade issues. Here's what it does, in detail -

It shows up with your other programs under Program and Features.

Why do you want to uninstall it . It helps WU do its job.

One of its functions - Windows Remediation Service - keeps Windows (or at least my Windows) from automatically sleeping. Keeping Windows awake so that maint gets installed at Microsoft's schedule rather than my schedule is not a good reason to mess with the power scheme I set. Anyway, I have a group policy to let Windows notify me of pending maintenance but to not download and install it. I manually install the maintenance when it's convenient for me ... and when others have discovered the bugs.

I have disabled Windows Remediation Service. So far I don't care much about the other functions of KB4023057 (as far as I know). If they improve the update procedure (without effecting the scheduling of the installation) then I'm fine with them.

I've got two closely related (and now pretty much identical) threads related to KB4023057.

Please post and additional comments on
