"Your Device Is Missing Important Updates Icon" Can't Get Rid Of?

I have gone into Taskbar settings and disabled this put it still shows up after a hard reboot:

How do I get rid of that puppy? I am loathe to click on it since we all know how touchy MS updates are and I have heard told that just by breathing on the update page you can trigger an unwarranted download : ) TIA.

Right click the taskbar then click Taskbar Settings

Then go down to Notification area

1 of those 2 settings should do the trick.

Why aren`t you updating windows ?

There`s nothing to be afraid of

    No seriously, update windows.

You have Pro, so as long as you have Feature updates deferred for 365 days, you`re fine.

Ditto! However, I'm not having problems with it on several computers but they are older, newest is 26 months old.

Thank you. I will take your friendly admonishment under advisement. In the meantime any other thoughts on why I still see that notification icon when apparently I have made all the correct adjustments to remove it.

Well, if anyone is interested I was able to vanquish that task bar annoyance without clicking on it though for the moment I do not know if it is permanent. I noticed something in Task Manger that looked like this:

and when I GOOGLED it it indicated it was associated with updates so I ended it and it vanished itself from the task bar. Good enough for me : )

Yes there is. For one Windows 10 update just destroyed my brand new ROG Strix Gaming PC
Help installing Windows 10 on ROG Strix GL10CS

Another, I have an ASUS thin laptop that doesn't have the ability to upgrade the HD. And the HD is only like 30 gigs. And no matter how many times I figure new ways of disabling updates, Microsoft finds ways around it and installs so much stuff that it fills up the HD and crashes it. Then I have to install Windows 10 again and uninstall everything again, I mean who needs solitaire anyway?

But yeah there is several reasons why someone would want to disable crap they don't need. Even if it is security updates for Flash and protection for IE. If you use Chrome, they do the updates and keep you safe. So Microsoft does not need to keep forcing things down peoples throats.

Thank you for the help - it's just what I was looking for. Peace

I can agree with that, this update after update after update is ridiculous.
