    Windows Updates Unable to Install

Hello forum. Has anybody had trouble with the downloading of the latest Windows updates?

I've tried twice and failed both times. The attempted download occupies my PC for about 2 hours, to no avail.

    Very frustrating.

    Thanks.

Hi, to which update are you referring? And which build are you using?

Not everyone receives the same build or update at the same time.

Please post a screenshot of your Update History (Settings, Windows Update).
To post a screenshot please use the Insert Image icon above your post. Thanks.

What error messages did you see- precise error numbers and text needed for research?

How much free space do you have on C: ?

    Thanks!

Hi, @RandyVat14 - would help a great deal if you could supply some info on your system specs. Not just typed in here as as post, but filled in in your profile. Here are some instructions:

When you say 2 hours and fail, do you mean the download itself failed, or the update/install phase failed?

Really need some specs and clarification to better help you. Be as specific as you can, including any error messages you may have gotten, and any screenshots you may have.

    Thanks.

Hello. Thanks to the forum members for responding. My C:\ has 868 GB of free space. I've updated my specs as much as I knew how.

On my 1st Windows update attempt: After downloading for about 2 hours Windows said: Unable to fully install. I wasn't at my PC, but I don't think there were any error messages. It then said "restoring your previous version of Windows."

The second attempt: I clicked update and went to the gym. Upon returning, I saw no error messages. I think from my Update History, a partial update (if there is such a thing) occurred. On my power button "update and restart" is no longer an option. If I got the latest version of updates, I'm pretty good. Thought that, as a "not too technical person" I'd ask a few questions. I appreciate the responses.

So failing to do a feature update (upgrade) from 1709 to 1803.
    Antivirus: Webroot
A typical recommendation is to disable or remove any 3rd party AV.
Another is to disconnect any unnecessary peripherals.

You can also do this manually- download the iso, then mount it, and run setup.exe from the mounted iso (whose contents appear as another drive letter when mounted).

Have you researched the error number?
