Your message wasn't clear if you own a Windows 10 Pro product key. If you
have a Window 10 Pro key, this should work. As you noted, the key in BIOS
    is for Windows 10 Home.

I take it that you do have a new Win 10 Pro key. Right ?

If yes, perhaps you would like to consider this method...…

Assuming your Win 10 Home is activated.
Settings > Update and Security > left side, Activation > right side, Change product key.....

Press the Windows key + R and run slui 3. Then enter the new key.

As long as you deactivate the Pro key by uninstalling on any machine the key is being used, you should be able to just "Upgrade" your edition. Unless you need GPO, there is no real reason to upgrade to Pro from Home for home use.

Yes, a key for 10 Home is embedded in the firmware. Setup reads this and installs the edition the key is for (Home in your case) without giving you any chance to choose Pro. But as others have said (and as I have done on my Dell) Home can easily be upgraded to Pro by entering a valid key. If you have bought Pro you have a retail key that came with it, just change the key to the Pro key and it will upgrade automatically.

If you haven't bought Pro yet, then you can upgrade to Pro by clicking 'go to the store'.

My reason for upgrading to Pro was that I wanted to user Hyper-V virtual machines. I have another machine I use just as often that has Home, on that I can do everything else I want, bar VMs. And if you did want to run a VM in Home you can always install VMWare.
