    win 10 home cmd prompt to disable windows update question


    I ran the cmd prompt to disable windows update as it was becoming a real pain and, using up my limited bandwidth. It seems everything is working as usual and the updates have been disabled as planned. The one thing I noticed is when I run a sfc file scan, it says some files could not be repaired is this because of the cmd prompt that was ran? If that's all it is it's no problem because everything works just fine and I don't get the updates installed when not wanted. Thanks!

    - which means what exactly?

    it says some files could not be repaired
    Suggests you should check your disk and run chkdsk, and if ok, would need to use appropriate DISM commands or an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all programs, data and most settings.

    sc config "wuauserv" start=disabled

    Cannot repair member file ... in the store, file cannot be checked

    I downloaded another windows 10 home iso and installed this morning and installed not sure what I got but, if I open a command prompt I get this windows 10 version 10.0.17763.107 no corrupt files now and win. update is still disabled in services so I guess everything is fine for now. Thanks again!
