    Reset windows update

Recently my computer had a fatal crash that I couldn't recover from. I tried to restore from an image, but Macrium just made it worse. So I bit the bullet and restored it to its factory state, hoping that I would be able to update to 1803, run the skippy reg file, and and go from there. My problem now is WU gets to downloading the files, then gets stuck at 65% then hangs up. Is there a way to reset WU, or am I SOL. If someone could help me out of this cumbersome problem I would be eternally grateful.

    Tews.

However, patience may sometimes be needed.

You can, of course, separate the process and download- presumably the iso for 1803- and then upgrade using that.

(MS Media creation tool, or links available in the relevant thread in the News section or via the iso download tool in post #3 following Kyhi's disk in the thread near the top of the Software and Apps section here).

Curious MR made it worse- did restoring the image fail, or did you not have a full Windows image (all relevant partitions), or was the image of a non-viable installation, or..?)

Try stopping it manually, then run the reset. Go to Services and click/highlight this one, then click Stop.
