    Windows Update Service Properties not working


    Hello everyone

    Hello everyone.
    I was trying to find a solution to the common propblem of disabling auto updates.

    I used this method

    windows 10 windows update keeps turning it self back on after i turn - Microsoft Community

    where I created a user in the Log On tab.
    It works fine two weeks now. But today I wanted to update an app from the Windows store.
    It said that when I want to restart I should check the Local System Account.
    The problem is that now the Windows Update Service Propertis tab is unclickable. It opens but I can't click anything.

    Is there something I can do?

    Try the Windows Update Troubleshooter (e.g. Settings search Trouble)

    Note the result. If that doesn't help:

    Try Tweaking.com's free, cautious repair tool. (easy to find)

    Observe the initial steps.
    Select just options related to services and Windows upate.

    Wow, the Tweaking tool solved it!
    That's got to be one the rare occasions I got a solution so fast and it worked the first time.
    Thank you!

    Now all I got to find out is a reliable solution to turn off auto updates without this happening again.
    (Windows are on a tablet/notebook with little space available and autoupdates fill the disk space and mess everything up)

    Great- can be a useful tool.

    Now all I got to find out is a reliable solution to turn off auto updates
    - there's one way to do that in my post above.

    Check it's reversible...

    If you have Pro you have a lot more control.
